How long does a bankruptcy case take?

I call bankruptcy the best value and most powerful tool in all of law.

A Chapter 7 Bankruptcy can be over in as little to three and a half months. Meaning, you could discharge 10, 20, 30, 40, or $50,000+ worth of debt in as little as three months!

The true success of that bankruptcy is what you do afterward. But three and a half months is a very short period of time, especially for law.

Now a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is a little bit more complex and involves a payment plan. The payment plan itself can last three to five years, but the procedure of the bankruptcy (case) – the meat of the bankruptcy itself – generally lasts anywhere from four to six months.

With the debtor’s involvement being very slim during that period of time where the attorney does most of the work.
